The Renaissance Stream

I found it very difficult to think of a blog theme. I find it very difficult to blog in general.
90% of my content comes from Twitter and Posterous now. Don't worry, I'm not going to pull a Steve Rubel just yet, but I'm seeing that my ideal playground for content creation does not come from what's traditionally seen as a blog.
One might automatically assume that the reason I gravitate towards a stream-like content system is because it's faster and easier. But actually that isn't the case. It comes down to variety. A core element of having a successful blog is to pick a relatively niche area and maximize your exploration of it. This drives better search results and establishes you as a big fish in a small pond.
I don't operate well with borders. Even though very popular bloggers can work with a wide range of topics to discuss they still all have a category they can be neatly placed into. Marketing blogger. SEO blogger. Design blogger. Etc. This blog is no exception to that. While that imaginary line that I need to color in really isn't that restrictive, something about it sometimes stifles my creative juices. Microblogging and Lifestreaming doesn't cause that feeling in me. I share whatever I'm thinking about at that moment. I prefer a renaissance stream to one of structure.
I shared this graph a few months back. It sums up my vision for the various types of streams I contribute to.
